Alex Romanenko was awarded the honorary badge of the Cavalier of "Golden Pelican. Charity and Generosity" OrderThe XVI annual awarding ceremony “Golden Pelican” took place in spiritual and educational centre “Svyatoduhovsky” in Alexander Nevsky Lavra.

“Golden Pelican. Charity and Generosity” is the highest award of the Union of public charitable organizations “Civil Social Initiative” and regional charitable movement “Golden Pelican – Northwest”.

The award was established in 1995. The prizewinners in different nominations were not only public persons – actors, writers, musicians, – but also common citizens – social workers, doctors, and teachers. They are all united by unselfish assistance they do to people.

This year Alex Romanenko, the president of ADVECS Real Estate Corporation, became the winner of this award. He was awarded the honorary badge of the Cavalier of “Golden Pelican. Charity and Generosity” Order. The badge shows picture of a pelican feeding its nestlings (an ancient symbol of good deeds). Alex Romanenko also got a diploma with a note “Caring about happiness of others, we find our own!”

It should be reminded that Alex Romanenko was already a “Gold Pelican” laureate in 1998. Awarding him the honorary badge of the Cavalier is the recognition of his contribution to the socially-significant programs.

While being the founder and the president of Saint Petersburg’s ADVECS Real Estate Corporation Alex Romanenko maintains an active international activity. He will take over the World President post of the largest international real estate association FIABCI (International Real Estate Federation) in May. Thanks to his initiative, the International Real Estate Congress 2012 will take place in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Speaking about his charity activities, Alex Romanenko is one of the cofounders of “Brodsky foundation” and a member of the Board of Trustees of Saint Petersburg National State University of Physical Education, Sports and Health Named after P. F. Lesgaft.

In her message to laureates of the prize, the governor of Saint Petersburg Valentina Matvienko says that Saint Petersburg is proud of such responsive people, guided by humanistic and moral values. This is the highest prize for all who show love to one’s neighbour by concrete actions and deeds.

The Regional charitable movement “Golden Pelican – Northwest” was established in 1994. Over the years of its existence, the Golden Pelican has evolved to one of the most famous and widely respected charitable organizations in Saint Petersburg. Targeted assistance was provided to more than 150 thousand citizens of St. Petersburg, about 2000 charity events were organized. Today The Golden Pelican is one of three public organizations of the city that have the greatest number of social services for St. Petersburg citizens.

In addition to the charitable programs, The Golden Pelican accomplishes the international cooperation in the Lions Club system, and works closely with the Saint Petersburg’s government.
